Halston Baca blocked 10 shots and the Pleasant Grove Hawks defeated the Hope Bobcats 48-46 in a boys game at the Gunslinger Tournament in Boston Friday.
Baca was like a human eraser inside as the Hawks win improved them to 4-6.
Torion Phillips was the leading scorer for the Hawks
The leading scorers for the Hawks were Torion Phillips who scored 15 points and Baca had ten. Ben “The Mail Man” Bricker pitched in with 4 points.
The Bobcats were led by Kaelo Anderson who scored 24 points and teamate Isac Love who scored fourteen.
“Our guys came out with a good win tonight,” Craig Collvins, Pleasant Grove Hawks head boys basketball coach said. “We let it get a little too close going down the stretch.”
It was close at the end, the Bobcats missed a 3-pointer at the buzzer.
“We still have a lot to work on but thought our defensive rotations were pretty good tonight, Coach Collvins said. “We just need to get our offense zeroed in and I think that will take us to another level.”
Overall, Coach Collvins said that his team wasn’t that bad for two days, and he said he definitely saw some improvement.
Pleasant Grove’s boys basketball team will conclude play in the Gunslinger Tournament Saturday at 3 p.m. versus Arkansas High.The Pg versus Arkansas High game will be broadcast live on 94.1 FM ESPN Texarkana. Bob DelGiorno on will have the play-by-play.
