Pleasant Grove Lady Hawks Gunslinger

The Pleasant Grove Lady Hawks girls varsity basketball team split their 2 games at the New Boston Gunslinger Tournament Friday.

In the Lady Hawks early game, they were defeated by the Atlanta Lady Rabbits 51-39.

The Lady Hawks won the nightcap beating the Hope Lady Bobcats 33-30. Pleasant Grove’s girls basketball team is 8-7 going into the weekend.

In the loss to Atlanta, the Lady Hawks leading scorer was sophomore Kenasia Henry who poured in 16 points. Resse Gibbs aka “The Big Gipper scored six.

In the victory over the Lady Bobcats the Lady Hawks were led by Henry who scored 14 and Madison “MC Hammer” Carpenter who poured in eight.

PG girls coach said the team fought hard in the loss to Atlanta

“I am very proud of the girls with their games today,” Codi Davidson, Pleasant Grove Lady Hawks head coach said. “We fought hard against Atlanta and if a couple more of our shots would’ve fallen it would have been a totally different ball game.”

Davidson said the girls pushed hard in the win over Hope.

“In the second game against hope we started out slow, and it was hard for us to fully get into our offense, but they continued to push through for a win,”

The fun and excitement continues Saturday when the Lady Hawks will conclude the Gunslinger Tournament with a game against the host New Boston Lady Lions. Tip-off for the Lady Hawks versus host New Boston will be at Noon. The game will be carried live on 94.1 FM ESPN Texarkana. Bob DelGirono will provide the play-by-play,
