
The Gunter Tigers dominated the Poth Pirates to win the 3A division 2 state championship winning 42-7. The Tigers scored all six touchdowns rushing, with four different players scoring.
Quarterback Walker Overman led the way for Gunter passing for 129 yards and rushing for 52.
Gunter rushed for 301 yards and passed for 163. The Tigers proved to be unstoppable for the Pirates defense. While the Tigers defense was totally dominant.
The Pirates scored late to avoid a shutout
The Pirates lone score came with only sixteen seconds left in the game.
This was Gunter’s fifth trip to the state championship game in seven years. This years win comes one year after the Tiger’s lost to Franklin last year.
