ARLINGTON, TEXAS-The Carthage Bulldogs captured the 4A-DII football championship Friday withe a 42-0 win over Wimberely at AT&T Stadium.

Each year the Carthage Bulldogs start the year with the expectation of going to the state championship game and winning.

Same old Carthage Bulldogs

This year nothing changed. The Bulldogs plowed through the non district schedule as well as the the district schedule and entered the playoffs undefeated. Then capped off what is best known as the third season (the playoffs) with a state championship!!
Sr quarterback Conner Cuff lead his team with 299 passing yards and 4 td passes. Standout receiver Noah Paddie set a state record for 4a division 2 with 199 yards and two touchdowns. Carthage had 444 total yards on the day offensively and only allowed 239 in the shut out of the Texans!

Not lost in the victory for the Bulldogs is head coach Scott Surratt’s 9th state championship in as many trips to the big game. The Linden, Texas native and former Linden Kildare Tiger is now tied with the legendary Gordon Wood on the all time state championships won as a head coach.
