In what turned to be an old fashioned slug fest the Franklin Lions won their second state championship in as many years. Franklin defeated Brock 17-14, proving that the move up in classification from 3A division 2 to 3A division 1 was no problem.
Franklin took a 7-0 lead into halftime, looking like their defense was to much for Brock who only had 103 yards in the first half. However, Brock made tremendous adjustments at halftime and tied the game up with 2:57 in the 3rd quarter 7-7.
Scoop and score put Franklin up but Brock would tie it up
Fragiel Owens stripped a Brock ball carrier and ran it back 64 yards to give Franklin the lead with 8:32 to play in the 4th quarter. In less than three minutes Brock struck gold on a 34 yard pass from quarterback Tyler Moody to Brett Tutter to tie the game back up!
With 5:54 on the clock and the game in the balance Franklin started a drive at their 32 yard line.
With 1:32 to play and the ball on the Brock 26 Franklin completed their one and only pass of the game. A fourteen yarder from Blake Autrey to Devyn Hidrogo.
The drive stalled at three yard line. The Lions called timeout with three seconds to play. Jr. Cort Lowery came in and hit a 20 yard field goal to win it.
