ARLINGTON, TEXAS-The Aledo Bearcats showed why they are one the all time best football programs in Texas by totally dominating the College Station Cougars 52-14 to win the 5A division 1 state championship.
ABefore you could get started good on your popcorn the Bearcats had scored 21 points in the first 8:18 of the first quarter. Aledo added two more touchdowns in the second quarter to take a 35-0 lead into the second half.
Aledo QB huge game
Aledo lead offensively by Jr. quarterback Hauss (Hoss) Hejny (Haney), had 257 yards passing and 240 rushing. Hejny himself with 179 passing with 2 touchdown passes. 146 rushing and 2 touchdowns. Hejny was the offensive MVP.
The Bearcats huge offensive line totally controlled the Cougar defensive front leading the way for the Aledo 497 total yards of offense.
Just as impressive was the Aledo defense lead by three star Washington State Defensive Lineman commit
Anse Din-Mbuh and Jr defensive back Jake Gillespie who had 8 tackles and an interception.
College Station’s two touchdowns came in the final 1:52 of the game.
This was Aledo’s thirteenth trip to the state championship game, their tenth in twelve years. They’ve now won eleven titles.
