ARLINGTON, TEXAS-For only the second time in Texas high school football history two teams from the same district have won state championships in two separate divisions, Duncanville and Desoto. Duncanville was the second of the two to do it with a 28-21 win over North Shore Friday night at AT&T Stadium.
The last game of the 2022 high school football season did not disappoint. The two best teams in the state of Texas, Duncanville and Gelena Park North Shore fought it out on the turf at AT&T Cowboy stadium.
Both teams filled to the brim on both sides of the ball with D-1 football players, played a great one, in an unbelievably evenly played game statically, went down to the wire.
North Shore barely came up short
The Mustangs from North Shore literally fell inches short of a 4th down conversion on the Panther 14 yard line. With less than one minute left to play.
Duncanville got things started with a 2 yard touchdown run by Caden Durham after a 43 yard pass from Keelon Russell to Dakerian Moore in the first quarter.
North Shore unable to score in the first quarter got after in the second quarter putting 21 points on the score board. However Duncanville was able to put 14 of there own points up as well in the second quarter. Tying the game up 21-21 at halftime.
The difference was Duncanville’s defense shutting down the Mustangs totally in the second half, while putting the only seven points scored in the second half when Caden Durham scored from the nine yard line on a fourth and one play with 3:45 to play in the 3rd quarter.
Not lost in the game tonight is the rivalry that has developed between these two teams have met four times in the last five years, North Shore winning three times but not tonight. Duncanville got the win 28-21.
Also it was a clean sweep for the metro plex teams this weekend at AT&T stadium. With South Oak Cliff, Aledo, Desoto, and Duncanville each winning.
Duncanville and Desoto who both play in District 11 6A. The 6A classification is not divided into division 1&2 until the playoffs start. All other classifications are separated into division 1 and 2 hence the reason two teams from the same district are able to win a state championship.
