The Pleasant Grove Lady Hawks came out on fire to start district action leading by as many as 12 late into the 3rd quarter, but the 17-4 Sulphur Springs Lady Cats hung in long enough to finally take their first lead with 23 seconds remaining in the game 50-49 on a long 3 made by Wall and they would hang on by the same score 50-49.
The Hawks would have their chances in the dying seconds but a missed 3 pointer and than 2 free throws with just 1.4 seconds remaining would give the PG Lady Hawks their first District loss.
Autumn Crouch led the Lady Hawks
Leading the way for the Lady Hawks tonight was Autumn Crouch with 10 points, Adi Koller and Emma Henard each with 8 points.
Lady Hawks coach Davidson said it was a tough loss
“We took a very tough loss tonight,” Codi Davidson, Pleasant Grove Lady Hawks head coach said. “We made some mistakes & we paid for them. We missed some crucial free throws & let Sulphur Springs get too many offensive boards at the end.”
Coach Davidson said despite the loss, her Lady Hawks did a lot of really great things Friday.
“This team shows growth every time they step on the floor & we will continue growing & getting better,” Coach Davidson said. “Now we shake it off and get ready for Liberty Eylau on Tuesday.”
The JV Girls coached by Carley Barrett won their first district Basketball game 41-20 over Sulphur Springs leading the way for the JV’s was Hailey Allen with 9 and Whitney Thorton with 9.

“I am very proud of how the girls played tonight. It was definitely a team win with all 10 players able to contribute,” PG JV girls coach Carley Barrett said. “They played hard and executed when they needed to.”
