The Paris Wildcats trailed the Pleasant Grove Hawks 25-21 at halftime in their boys varsity basketball game Tuesday in Paris at the Wildcat gym.
Paris outscored PG in the second half 36-17 erasing the halftime deficit winning by the final score of 57-38.
The Paris Wildcats (17-8, 1-1) were led by sophomore Jamari Jackson who scored 25 points.
Hawks junior Torion Phillips led PG with 19 points.
The Hawks played well in the first half
“I thought our kids played well in the first half.” Craig Collvins, Pleasant Grove Hawks head basketball coach said. “I thought we weathered the storm early, got the lead going into the half.”
Things got away from Pleasant Grove in the second half
“In the second half they (Paris) did a better job on the boards and executing their offense,” Coach Collvins said. “It got away from us.”
Pleasant Grove (8-15, 1-1) will play on the road again Friday at Pittsburg. The Hawks at Pittsburg Pirates game will be broadcast live on 94.1 FM ESPN-Texarkana.
Pleasant Grove’s JV boys beat Paris 55-42. The PG JV boys were led by Zeeland Youngblood who scored 14 points. Grayson Redden scored 12 points and Prinston Vaughn scored ten.
