Lady Hawks opening day
The Hits came early and often in the Lady Hawks softball season opener and the seniors led the way and PG

routed the Carthage Lady Bulldogs 15-3 in a run rule victory at Carthage.

 MJ Williams, Adi Koller, and Presley Humphrey, all seniors led the Lady Hawks. Combined, the 3 seniors had 10 hits and 12 RBI’s.
Sarah Hackleman got the win in the circle for the Lady Hawks. Hackleman allowed 5 hits and 3 runs and struck out 3 in her 5 innings of work.

Humphrey, Williams and Koller led the Lady Hawks hit parade

Presley “Bambino” Humphrey was 3-5 with 5 RBI’s, Adi Koller was 4-5 with 4 RBI’s, Mackenzie “MJ” Williams was 3-5 with 3 RBI’s.
Hailey Allen and Sarah Hackleman were both 2-4 and the 2 freshman in the lineup Jackelyn Smith and Addison Dial each recorded their first hit for the Lady Hawks.  Smith would end up 2-3.

Coach Collom said it was a very good start to the season.

“I was very pleased with our season opener,” Becca Collom, Pleasant Grove Lady Hawks Head softball coach said. “We have some old faces in different spots and some new faces in general.”

“We squared up a lot of balls and anytime we are passing the bat like that we’re going to have good outcomes, Coach Becca “Win” Collom said.”

Coach Collom said Sarah Hackleman settled in on the mound and finished up nicely.

“Defense got the opportunity to make some plays and got us out of some jams,” Collom said. “Overall can’t complain, we came back and answered the runs that we gave up and didn’t relax to give up anymore.”

Everyone at the game agreed; it was a great start to the Pleasant Grove Lady Hawks season.

The Lady Hawks will play several games in the Carthage tournament Thursday through Saturday. Most if no all of their games at the Carthage tournament will be broadcasted live on Fox Sports Texarkana 97.1 FM, and 1400 AM.
