Mayor Bob Bruggeman and the Texarkana Texas Fire Department honored 12 year old Abel Hendrix Monday night with a Meritorious Citizen Award, the City of Texarkana, Tx., said.
Texarkana, Tx., city officials said that Abel was instrumental in calling 911 when he noticed a house fire in his neighborhood and knew someone was inside.

He ran over 2 blocks home to get a phone from his grandmother to make the call, The City of Texarkana, Texas said.
