Aledo Pleasant Grove Lady Hawks
By: Terry Snyder
The PG Lady Hawks Softball team made their home debut for the 2023 season but it didn’t go as planned as they were upended 9-1 by the visiting Mt. Pleasant Lady Tigers.
The Lady Hawks had a 1-0 lead early as Abby Runion scored on a pass ball after opening the top of the 2nd with a double.

Then it was all Mt. Pleasant

Mt. Pleasant loaded the bases in 3 separate innings. In the 3rd and 4th innings the Lady Hawks would pull out of basses loaded jams with no outs allowing just one run. The Lady Hawks were able to do that because of a couple great defensive plays by senior short stop Adi Koller.
Koller also drilled a stand up triple in the 1st inning.

The 5th inning was the one time the Lady Hawks couldn’t escape bases loaded trouble. They allowed 3 runs to go down 4-1 and never get momentum back.
Sarah Hackleman took the loss on the mound for the Lady Hawks. She allowed 9 runs on 13 hits while striking out 4.
Offensively the Lady Hawks managed just 4 hits.  Adi Koller, Abby Runion, Jacklyn Smith, & Mackenzie Williams were the Lady  Hawks that had 1 hit a piece.
The Pleasant Grove Hawks will play in the Mount Pleasant Tournament this Thursday through Saturday.
