Hawks pitchers dominate Whitehouse tournament

The Pleasant Grove Hawks boys varsity baseball team’s pitching dominated in their 2 games played Thursday at the Whitehouse tournament in Whitehouse, Tx.

The Hawks defeated Heritage-Midlothian 6-1 in their early game. The Hawks defeated host Whitehouse also by the score of 6-1 in the nightcap.

Jarret Halter was the winning pitcher in the win over Midlothian. Halter who is a sophomore pitched a 1-hit complete 7 inning game. Halter struck out 6 and walked two.

The Hawks bats were on fire versus the Midlothian Jaguars. Cade Martin was 2-for-4 with a double and 2-RBI, Buck Anderson was 1-for-2 with a double and 2 RBI. Jace Elrod, a freshman had an RBI single, Ty Boozer was 1-for-2 with a triple and JM Long was 1-for-three.

Freshman Hunter Rose was the winning pitcher for the Hawks in the nightcap

Pleasant Grove pitching continued to shine in the nightcap versus the Whitehouse Wildcats. The Winning pitcher was left handed freshman Hunter Rose. Rose allowed 1-run but it was unearned. Rose allowed 4 hits in the 5-inning game called for the time limit. Rose struck out 3 and walked only 1 Whitehuse Wildcat.

Jarret Halter led the Hawks at the plate versus the Wildcats. Halter was 2-for-3 with a triple and 2 RBI. Cade Martin was 1-for-2 with a double and 2 RBI, and Brenton Clark was 1-for-3 with an RBI. Ty Boozer was 1-for-three.

“It’s 2 different guys, Jarret is  fiery and he wears his emotions on his sleeve and you see it,  and Rose is even keeled. Those 2 guys (Halter and Rose) gave us the starts we needed to start this  tournament,” Pleasant Grove head baseball coach Riley Fincher said.

Hawks pitchers dominate Whitehouse tournament

Pleasant Grove (2-1) will play 2 games at the Whitehouse tournament Friday and a final game at the tournament on Saturday.

Friday PG will play Crandall at 11:30 a.m. and Lake Highlands at 4:30 p.m. Saturday the Hawks will play Bullard at 4:30 p.m.
