
The Pleasant Grove Hawks boys varsity baseball team won 2 games Saturday at the Hallsville tournament after finishing their suspended game with a tie.
The Hawks beat 6A Naaman Forest 9-2 and then downed the host team Hallsville 7-4 in the nightcap.
Pleasant Grove sophomore Luke Flanagan was the winning pticher in the win over the Naaman Forest Rangers. Luke pitched 5 innings, allowing 6 hits, no earned runs striking out 2 and walking one. Hunter Digby pitched the 6th and final inning allowing no runs and not hits.

Pleasant Grove had 8 hits in the win over the Rangers. Seven of PG’s hits in the win were for extra bases.
Jarret Halter was 1-for-4 with 2 RBI, JM Long was 1-for-4 with a double and Cade Martin was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI.
Wait, there’s more. Hunter Rose was 1-for-3, Buck Anderson was 1-for-3 with a double and RBI, Ty Boozer was 1-for-3 with a double and 2 RBI and Jace Elrod was 1-for-1 with a triple and RBI.
The Hawks hitting exposition continued in the 7-4 win over the tournament host Hallsville Bobcats.
Brenton Clark was 2-for-2 with 2 triples batting in the lead off spot for the Hawks. Clark also made some highlight real catches in center field. Hawks senior shortstop JM Long hit a tap measure home run over the right center field wall.
The winning pitcher for the Hawks (8-4-1) was freshman lefthander Hunter Rose. Rose pitched 7 complete innings allowing only 3 hits, striking out 6 and walking one.
“In the game against Naaman Forest Luke Flanagan gave us a great start and we started swinging the bats well. In the second game we came out against a well coached Hallsville team and our freshman Hunter Rose came out and I can’t say enough about him, He (Rose) keeps improving,” Pleasant Coach head baseball coach Riley Fincher said. “At the plate against Hallsville we swung the bats well. It was long day at the ballpark but it was 2 huge wins for our program.”
Pleasant Grove will wrap up play at the Hallsville tournament Saturday morning at 10 a.m. against Pine Tree. The Hawks open tournament play Tuesday night at Paris.
