New Principal Arkansas High

The Texarkana Arkansas School District Board of Directors has hired Brad Bailey to take over as Arkansas High School’s new principal.

Bailey will take over as the high school’s principal on July 1st, 2023. While students in the Texarkana Arkansas School District may not recognize Bailey, this is not his first time working as a principal in Texarkana. Bailey served as the high school Principal for the Texarkana Independent School District up until 2 years ago. Before that he had been in the district since 2007, serving as the assistant high school principal. In 2021, Bailey worked as an assistant superintendent in the Lake Travis Independent School District, before coming back to Texarkana. Arkansas High School’s current principal, Dr. Robin Hickerson, announced her retirement which will take effect on June 30th.

The district’s superintendent gave a statement on the hiring.

Superintendent Dr. Becky Kesler says, “Dr. Hickerson leaves big shoes to fill; however, I am confident that Mr. Bailey will hit the ground running and continue our tradition of excellence in education in the Texarkana Arkansas School District.” Bailey also gave a statement regarding his new position in the district. “I am honored to serve as the high school principal and join the Razorback family,” the newly appointed principal says. “I am looking forward to working alongside the excellent team at the high school to ensure a successful and enjoyable experience for all students.”
