
The Pleasant Grove Hawks 10-run ruled the Sulphur Springs Wildcats 11-0 in a 5 inning game at Sulphur Springs Friday.
Luke Flanagan was the winning pitcher for the Hawks. “Cool Hand Luke” pitched 4 innings allowing 1 hit while striking out 5 and walking two. Flanagan, a sophomore is now 3-0 on the mound this season and his ERA dropped below 2-runs per game.
Walker Wright pitched the final inning retiring all 3 batters he faced.
Pleasant Grove Hawks hitters were on fire
Pleasant Grove’s bats came alive in the win. Brenton Clark was 1-for-2 with a triple and 3 runs. Jarret Halter was 1-for-3 with 2 runs scored. JM Long was 1-for-2 with an RBI and 2 runs. Cade Martin scored a run.
Freshman Hunter Rose was 2-for-2 with 2 doubles, 3 RBi and 2 runs scored. Spencer Browning was 2-for-3 with a double and RBI. Ty Boozer was 1-for-3 with a double, RBI and a run scored. Freshman Jace Elrod was 1-for-2 with an RBI.
“It was a big win for us, especially coming out on this long trip for us,” Pleasant Grove Hawks head baseball coach Riley Fincher said. “Huge job by Luke Flanagan and Walker Wright coming in and closing it out. Offensively we looked real good and defensively we made a lot of great plays behind the mound”
