The Liberty-Elau Leopards beat the rain and the Pittsburg Pirates 6-3 at HE Markum Field Tuesday in Texarkana, Tx. The start time was moved up to 5 p.m. to beat a thunderstorm that passed through the area later in the evening.

WT Jones was the winning pitcher for LE. Jones pitched the complete 7-inning game allowing 3 runs on 6 hits, striking out 5 and walking three,2 intentionally. Jones was also 1-for-3 at the plate with a double and 3 RBI.

WT’s brother Cal Jones was 2-for-3 with 2 runs, Triston Haugh was 2-for-4 with 2 runs, Aydan Easter and Maddax Moore each doubled.

Leopards head coach Zach Fowler said his time played well early

“We came out and played really well early,” Zach Fowler, Liberty-Eylau head baseball coach said. “Their pitcher settled in and did a good job of keeping us off balance. It was a great team win and now we look forward to Paris Friday.”
