Texas High School’s student council is a 2023 National Gold Council of Excellence recipient.
This is the 15th consecutive year the High School was received the award from the National of Student Council. It’s a high honor and reflects exemplary levels of leadership, as well as actions to help serve their school and community. The National of Student Council’s parent company is The National Association of Secondary School Principals (or NASSP), whose CEO commented on Texas High’s achievement.
Ronn Nozoe was quoted as saying, “Texas High School has gone above and beyond in elevating student voice to ensure they are establishing a positive climate and culture, as well as fostering academic and social growth for all.” In a press release from Texarkana ISD, the criteria for the award was described. These include basic student council affairs like a written constitution, regular meetings, and a democratic election. The National of Student Council also looks for programs that develop leaders and give back to the community.
