
The #6 ranked Pleasant Grove Hawks baseball team downed the Mount Pleasant Chapel Hill Bulldogs 7-1 in game 1 of their bi-district series in Winnsboro, Tx., Thursday.
Sophomore pitcher Jarret Halter was the winning pitcher for the Hawks. Halter pitched 6 and 1/3 innings allowing only 1 run on 2 hits while striking out 7 and walking one. Luke Flanagan pitched the final 2 innings not allowing a run.
Halter had a huge night at the plate as well. He was 3-for-4 with a run. Brenton Clark was 1-for-3 with and RBI JM Long was 1-for-3 with an RBI and a run. Cade Martin scored a run. Hunter Rose was 2-for-3 with a triple and an RBI. Buck Anderson was 1-for-2 with a double, RBI and run. Spencer Browning had an RBI. Ty Boozer was 1-fopr-3 and Jace Elrod was 2-for-2 with 2 runs.
Hawks head coach Riley Fincher said it was a good win.
“It was a good win for us. Anytime you come out, especially in the first game of the playoffs it always feels like it’s the toughest because it’s the first time you play in that situation,” Riley Fincher, Pleasant Grove Hawks head baseball coach said.”I thought our guys handled it well.”

Pleasant Grove (27-3-1) and Mount Pleasant Chapel Hill (9-17) will play game 2 of the 3-game series is Friday at 8 p.m. in Winnsboro. The game will be broadcast live on 94.1 FM ESPN-Texarkana.
