Stacey Allen, one of the Texas 10 Most Wanted Sex Offenders, is back in custody following his arrest on April 26 in Lubbock, according to a press release from the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS).
Allen, who had been wanted since August 2022 for two counts of failure to comply with sex offender registration requirements, was apprehended by members of the U.S. Marshals North Texas Fugitive Task Force and DPS Special Agents, says the DPS.
In 1995, Allen was convicted of sexual assault of a child and sentenced to four years in prison, according to the DPS. The DPS Criminal Investigations Division in El Paso had issued warrants for his arrest in August 2022 after he failed to comply with sex offender registration requirements.
The multi-agency investigation into Allen’s whereabouts involved the U.S. Marshals Lone Star Fugitive Task Force, Lubbock Police Department, Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office, and Hudspeth County Sheriff’s Office. Texas Crime Stoppers, which is funded by the Governor’s Criminal Justice Division, will be paying a reward for information that leads to the arrest of one of Texas’ 10 Most Wanted Fugitives or Sex Offenders.
So far in 2023, DPS and other agencies have arrested 15 Texas 10 Most Wanted Fugitives and Sex Offenders, and $14,000 in rewards has been paid for tips that resulted in arrests. According to the press release, to be eligible for cash rewards, tipsters must provide information to authorities via the Crime Stoppers hotline, DPS website, or Facebook tip. All tips are anonymous, and tipsters will be given a tip number instead of using a name.
The DPS advises the public not to attempt to apprehend these fugitives as they are considered armed and dangerous. The current Texas 10 Most Wanted Fugitives and Sex Offenders Lists, with photos, can be found on the DPS website.
