Pleasant Grove Tyler Chapel Hill

The Pleasant Grove Hawks baseball team defeated the Tyler Chapel Hill Bulldogs Friday night 14-0 in 5 innings in Winnsboro. The Hawks swept the bi-district series 2-games to none.

The Hawks will play the winner of the Kaufman versus Ferris series series next week.

The winning pitcher for the Hawks was the starter, freshman Hunter Rose. Rose hurled 3 innings allowing no runs , 1 hit, striking out 8 and walking none.

Senior Hunter Digby pitched the final 2 innings allowing only 1 hit and no runs.

Hawks head coach Riley Fincher thought the pitchers did great

“They did a great job filling the strike zones and keeping them off balance and our defense played well behind them and they got ahead of a lot of hitters,” Pleasant Grove head baseball coach Riley Fincher said. “That was huge for us.”

Coach was just as impressed with his team’s hitting

“We swung the plates real well, Brenton (Clark) squared the ball up and everybody behind hi did,” Coach Fincher said.” We had a chance to play a lot of guys tonight and that was huge for us.”

Brenton Clark was 1-for-3 with an RBI and a run.e  Jarret Halter was 3-for-4 with a run. JM Long was 1-for-3 with an RBI and run. Cade martin scored a run. Rose was 2-for-3 with a triple and RBI. Buck Anderson was 1-for-2 with a double and RBI. Spencer Browning had an RBI. Ty Boozer was 1-for-three. Jace Elrod was 1-for-1 and Caleb “Big Mack” McIntosh was 1-for one.

The Hawks are 27-3 and 1 going into the area playoffs. Pleasant Grove’s baseball all all broadcast live on 94.1 FM ESPN-Texarkana.
