The Librty-Eylau Leopards beat the Canton Eagle 11-1 in 6 innings in game 1 of their  3-game area baseball playoff series Thursday in Marshall.

WT Jones was the winning pitcher for the Leopards. Jones allowed 4 hits, 1 run, striking out 9 and walking two. Jones pitched all 6 innings for the Leopards.

Cal Jones was 1-for-3 with a double and 3 RBI for the Leopards. Triston Haugh was 1-for-3 with a double and RBI. Dylan Nabors and Maddax Moore each had 2 hits and Britain Pipes and Aydan Easter each had a hit.

“We had a great offensive performance as a team tonight against a very good pitcher and team,” Zach Fowler, Liberty-Eylau Leopards head baseball coach said. “Hopefully we can continue to put together good at bats in the next game of the series.”

Fowler also was happy with his pitcher

“We also got a great performance on the mound from WT Jones,” Coach Fowler said.

Game 2 is Friday night in Winnsboro at 7 p.m. Game 3 if necessary would be Saturday at 2 p.m. in Winnsboro.
