
The Lovejoy Leopards baseball team defeated the Texas High Tigers in the area playoff series Friday with a 5-1 win at Lovejoy.
The Leopards won the series 2-games-to-none and will advance to the regional quarterfinals. The Texas High Tigers season ends with the Tigers finishing Bi-District Champions.
Lovejoy jumped out to early leads in both games in the series.
After exploding for 4 runs in the first inning of Thursday’s 11-3 victory in Game 1 in Hooks, the Leopards were first on the scoreboard once again on Friday.
Lovejoy needed just two at-bats to score 3 runs in the bottom of the first inning Friday. They followed up with great pitching and excellent defense in route the the series clinching 5-1 home win.
