
Karen Brown, an esteemed educator with over 30 years of experience, has been appointed as the Principal of Paul Laurence Dunbar Early Education Center in Texarkana.
Currently serving as the Associate Principal at Texas Middle School, Brown brings a wealth of knowledge and leadership to her new role.
Throughout her extensive career, Brown has made significant contributions to the field of education. She has spent over 20 years as a campus administrator at Theron Jones Early Literacy Center and Texas Middle School, fostering an environment conducive to academic growth and student development.
Prior to her administrative roles, Brown served as a teacher at Pine Street Middle School, where she honed her instructional skills and built a strong foundation for her educational journey.
Mrs. Brown’s educational background is extensive. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from the University of Arkansas – Fayetteville, a Master’s in Education from Southern Arkansas University, and a Superintendent’s Certification from Texas A & M University – Texarkana.
TISD Superintendent Dr. Doug Brubaker expressed confidence in Mrs. Brown’s abilities, stating, “Mrs. Brown’s experience, enthusiasm, long-standing ties to our community, and outstanding interpersonal skills will be important assets as she joins the talented Dunbar team.”
Karen Brown will assume her new role as Principal of Paul Laurence Dunbar Early Education Center on July 1, 2023.
