The Texas Art Education Association (TAEA) has recognized Redwater Independent School District as one of the esteemed recipients of the District of Distinction Award for an impressive four years in a row.
Notably, Redwater ISD’s Visual Art programming now ranks within the top 5.5% across the state.
The award was secured by Redwater through a rigorous 14-point rubric, spanning the 2022-23 school year.
Sandra Newton, Chair of TAEA’s Administration and Supervision Division, commended Redwater ISD’s achievement, saying, “Redwater ISD has set a high standard for visual arts advocacy, integrated visual arts curriculum, encouraged creativity, community participation and student growth.”
Dr. Kelly Burns, Superintendent of Schools, expressed pride in the district’s accomplishment. “We are home to an art team of five teachers who are outstanding in art leadership and promoting the arts in our district and community,” Dr. Burns noted.
The accomplished members of the RISD art team include Catherine Chiles, Stacy Deaton, Tabitha Houchens, Stacie Norton, and Carrie Slay.
