
The Pleasant Grove Hawks football team dominated the Mount Pleasant Tigers at Hawks field Friday night in the first football scrimmage of the year.
In the timed quarter, actual game format portion the the varsity scrimmage; the Pleasant Grove Hawks won 21-0. One of the big highlights was a 35-yard touchdown run by Nick Bells.
In the scrimmage portion of the evening, Hawks quarterback Ahkhari Johnson completed a couple of long bombs to Torion Phillips, including a TD pass.
The Hawks had 5 or 6 interceptions and put pressure on the Tigers quarterback. Hawks head coach, Josh Gibson was happy after the scrimmage.
Coach Gibson said the Hawks competed
“I was really pleased with the first scrimmage,” Pleasant Grove Hawks head football coach Josh Gibson said. “The biggest thing is we competed, nobody got hurt and we grew and got better and that was the goal.”
The #3 Hawks next scrimmage is Thursday night at Kilgore. The Hawks open their 2023 football pre-district season Friday, August 25th vs Brock at Royce City.
