The Varsity Tennis Hawks traveled to Hallsville and took on the undefeated Bobcats Monday. They ended up losing a tough battle with a final team score of 6-13.
The Hawks tennis players had 7 3rd set tiebreaker matches and they could only win 2 out of 7 of them.
Hawks tennis coach Eric Pickett said losing the tiebreakers hurt
“This was without a doubt the key ingredient that hurt us today,” Eric Pickett, Pleasant Grove Hawks head tennis coach said. “We ended up being down 2-5 after doubles and just couldn’t quite climb out of the hole.”
Coach Pickett said doubles matches are crucial
“Today showed us how crucial doubles is in winning team matches,” Coach Pickett said. “We are going to continue working hard, experiment with our doubles teams here in the next few weeks, and see if we can figure out our strongest lineup moving forward.”
The Pleasant Grove Hawks varsity tennis hawks will travel to the metroplex again to play Anna and Melissa in a double header on Saturday August 26th.
