Leon Price builds memorable career with Clayton Homes

Leon Price must be doing something right at Clayton Homes in Texarkana.

Clayton’s Energy Smart Homes package has features that few can match. Price has been a 50-50 partner with Clayton since 2002, and has sold hundreds of homes.

These manufactured homes are built all over the United States. Price is the general manager of the local dealership, purchasing homes built in Texas, Alabama and Tennessee.

“We service Texas, Arkansas, Oklahoma and Louisiana,” said Price, who has been selling manufactured homes since 1987. “Selling these homes is all I’ve ever done, and we take great pride in what we do here. We do it all here, with financing, insurance, even land if you need it.”

Here we have a master bedroom in one of Clayton Homes beautiful double wides.

Clayton Homes are energy efficient

Clayton Homes are constructed air tight, according to Price. The best insulation is offered with R-11 in the walls; R-22 in the floor, and R-33 in the ceiling. The low E windows reduce solar heat. Other components include energy efficient light bulbs, and energy efficient water heater.

There’s also a programmable thermostat to save energy. The sealed duct work increases heating/cooling efficiency.

“I just love seeing a family come in here to get a home,” said Price. “We have families come in that might be renting, or living with other family members. There’s so many great things about owning your own home. I think it’s self-pride. Our work doesn’t end when we sell a home either. If we tell someone we’re going to do something afterwards, we’re going to do it.”

It’s literally correct to say Price is married to his job, but he doesn’t live at Clayton Homes.

“I’m a bachelor who likes to cook out, go to the lake, and hang out with my friends,” said Price. “I also enjoy going to St. Louis to see my Cardinals play.”

Still, Price’s biggest joy is selling a manufactured home.
