The Queen City Lady Bulldogs girls varsity basketball team defeated the Plesant Grove Lady Hawks 45-39 Friday in Queen City Friday.

The Lady Bulldogs were led by Serenity Oden who scored 11 points and Jamecia Cook who poured in nine.

The Lady Hawks leading scorers were Adi Koller and Kanasia Henry who each scored 9 points. Autumn Crouch chipped in with 8 points.

Lady Hawks coach said her girls played hard

“The girls played hard the whole game, no one can deny that,” Codi Davidson head coach of the Pleasant Grove Lady Hawks girls varsity basketball team said. “We came up short because we gave up too many second chance shots and we messed up too many layups on our end.”

Coach Davidson said the Lady Hawks did a lot of things right

“We played fast aggressive defense and forced a lot of Queen City turnovers,” Coach Davidson said. ”

Davidson said the girls from the Area Champion PG volleyball team did real well considering they only had one day of practice. Davidson acknowledged that the Lady Hawks still have some work but that she thinks they’re going in the right direction.

The Lady Hawks (1-1) play at Mount Chapel Hill Tuesday. The game will be broadcast live on 94.1 FM ESPN Texarkana. Bob DelGiorno will call the play-by-play. The Lady Haws will be back in Queen City Thursday through Saturday and they’ll play in the Queen City Tournament.
