Tigers, Hawks, Rabbits post impressive baseball victories

Atlanta pitchers Max Ebarb and Cooper McClure led the Rabbits past Paul Pewitt, 17-0.

 

ROYSE CITY, Texas – Michael Sikorski and Chris Sutton combined on a two-hitter Tuesday night at Bulldog Field. Texas High remains unbeaten in District 15-5A play after the Tigers beat Royse City, 3-1.

Sikorski has been the winning pitcher in both district games. He went 6.2 innings against the Bulldogs, allowing one run, two hits and striking out nine. Sutton came on with the tying runs on base and two outs in the seventh to get a save.

Sophomore Rian Cellers had a double and single with two RBI for the Tigers at the plate. Connor Allred contributed two hits, with Sutton adding a run-scoring single. Jakob Hearn had a single and scored twice, with Chris Lyles contributing a hit and scoring a run.

Texas High will be back in action Friday at home against Mount Pleasant.

Hawks’ bats hot against New Boston

Keaton Russo and Ben Harmon were swinging for the fence Tuesday when Pleasant Grove hammered New Boston, 17-1.

Russo homered and singled, while Harmon blasted a grand slam and double. Seth Hopkins contributed a double and single as the Hawks banged out 14 hits in four innings. The game was called after the top half of the fifth via the 10-run rule.

Both teams used three pitchers. Marshal Oubre was the winner, pitching the third in relief of starter Nick Voyles. Tucker Anderson pitched the fifth. Tyler Stain was the starter and loser for the Lions.

Rabbits blank Paul Pewitt on pitching gem

ATLANTA, Texas – Max Ebarb and freshman Cooper McClure combined on a one-hitter and 11 strikeouts Tuesday night as Atlanta blanked Paul Pewitt in district play, 17-0.

The Rabbs put the game out of reach early with 11 runs in the fourth inning.

Atlanta banged out 14 hits in the five-inning contest. Jake Thompson, McClure, Andy Samples and Ebarb had multiple hit games for the winners. The Rabbs played errorless ball on defense to win their district opener.

Cross Holder was the losing pitcher for the Brahmas.
